Newsletter 23rd January 2026

Dear parents and carers,

Oak Class Cake Sale – Friday 30th January 2026

Next Friday, Oak Class will be holding a cake sale after school to raise money for a charity that they will select as a class. Please bring some pennies to support this event – cakes will be 50p each.

Trip to Steam Museum for Beech Class

Beech Class will be off to the Steam Museum on the 30th January. Please ensure that you have given your consent for the trip on ParentPay and remember to send your child with a packed lunch on this day.

Beech Residential Meeting

There will be a Teams meeting on Thursday 29th January at 6pm to answer any questions you may have about the upcoming trip to Yenworthy. If you need your child’s login details to access this meeting, please email the office. Please make sure you have returned the consent forms and medical forms back to school before next week.

Friends of Dr South’s Party Kit

Did you know that Friends of Dr South’s offer a re-usable party kit for hire – perfect for children’s parties? The kit includes 36 bowls, plates, and cups, as well as large jugs, serving bowls, and platters, and costs just £12.50 per party.  Even better – if you return the kit within 24 hours, you don’t need to wash it up!  To book the party kit, please speak to Rebecca Welsford or your class rep.

Soup Lunch and Talent Show – Friday 13th February

This popular event is fast approaching.  On this date, the children will have the opportunity to have a soup lunch at the Village Hall, and they will then be able to demonstrate any particular talent they have.  Mrs Halsey will be holding auditions on Thursday, so if your child needs any props or instruments, they will need to bring these to school. If your child needs a backing track for their performance, please let Mrs Halsey know by Monday. These should be no longer than 90 seconds.

If your child has a talent that cannot be performed on a stage, but they would like to share it ( hockey, model making, etc.) please feel free to send in a picture and we will display this on some boards in the village hall.

Separate information from the Friends of Dr South’s will be sent out next week to enable to you to book the lunch; we do hope that even if your child usually has lunch provided, they will be able to take part in this fun fundraiser.

This week we congratulated:
