Dear parents and carers,
Thank you
We have reached the end of another academic year and I would like to say a huge thank you to all the children, staff and families and all the members of the community for all your support across the academic year. It has been a privilege to lead this school this year and to share the children’s journeys as they progress through the school and onwards.
Thank you from all of the staff for all your lovely cards and gifts and, as a staff, we were overwhelmed by the donations we have received which will enable us to have a lovely night out together next year. It is very much appreciated by us all. We would like to wish you all a restful summer.
Goodbyes
Today we have said farewell to our Year 6 children as they move onto their new secondary schools. We would like to say thank you for all they have contributed to the school community during their time here and for sharing the memories so beautifully today. We wish them all well with their future endeavours.
We also said goodbye to Leo and we wish him many happy days ahead in his new school.
We would like to thank Miss Griffiths and Mrs Randall for all their hard work and enormous contributions to the school. We wish Miss Griffiths every success in her new role and know that she will be wonderful.
To Mrs Randall, we say bon voyage as she sets off on new adventures and wish her a happy and restful retirement.
We would also like to thank Mrs Anita Unwin who is leaving us as a Forest School Volunteer. Mrs Unwin has helped many many children alongside Mrs Jaggard up at Jacobs’ Field and we are extremely grateful for all the time and care that she has given to Dr South’s over many years.
Jacobs Field – Harvest Open Afternoons
Jacobs Field is open to visitors this weekend on both Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th July from 2pm-5pm. The lavender is being harvested and this is a once a year opportunity to visit with your family and learn about the lavender harvesting process. You will learn about the different types of lavender grown in the field and their uses and see the lavender oil distilling process in action. Jacobs Field Lavender products will be available to buy along with fresh bunches of lavender and wreaths. All proceeds from the sales go towards supporting the Forest School at Dr South’s. Please note that all children must be supervised in the field and access to the forest is not permitted on this occasion.
SATS Results
Children in Year 6 received their SATS results this week and we are incredibly proud of how well they all did. Congratulations, children on all your hard work and perseverance
Dates for the year and clubs
I will send out an email in the holidays with details of clubs for September and term dates for the next academic year. You will be able to email requests for clubs over the holidays which we will process on the first few days in September.
Welcome (Back) BBQ and Colour Run: save the date (Sunday 20 September)
The Friends of Dr South’s are already busy planning for the new school year! Our Welcome (Back) BBQ will take place on Sunday 20 September, from 3.30–5.30pm at the Village Hall. We are also excited to be organising our very first Colour Run on the same afternoon. This promises to be a fantastic family event, so please save the date. Further information about pre-ordering food and booking Colour Run tickets will be shared next term.
Thank you from the Friends of Dr South’s
The Friends of Dr South’s would like to thank everyone for their fantastic support of our events and fundraising activities this year. We are delighted to have exceeded our £10,000 fundraising target. As always, the money raised will be used to support many of the wonderful activities and opportunities taking place at Dr South’s throughout the year. Thank you again for your generosity and support. We wish everyone a wonderful summer!

We still have quite a lot of outstanding payments that need to be cleared before the start of the next academic year. Please could you check your accounts to ensure that all accounts are settled before the end of next week.
