Dear parents and carers,
Thank you for your support over recent weeks. We are very pleased to be welcoming all children back on Monday. Please read this newsletter carefully, as it contains a number of last-minute pieces of information.
Menu choices for next week
Monday 8th March – Pasta & meatballs / Pasta & veggie meatballs
Tuesday 9th March – Pepperoni pizza / Margherita pizza
Wednesday 10th March – Roast chicken / Roast Quorn
Thursday 11th March – Sausage, mash & veg / Veggie sausage, mash & veg
Friday 12th March – Fish & chips / Veggie burger.
On the week beginning 15th March, we will be continuing with the previous menu, starting at Week 1. There is a slight amendment to Wednesdays of week 1; instead of salmon it will be tuna pasta pot.
Please make sure your child brings their water bottle to school each day. Children in Oak and Beech classes will be eating in their classrooms and we will not be able to routinely provide cups of water for them due to bubble restrictions.
World Book Day – Thursday 4th March
I hope you enjoyed the celebrations for World Book Day. There were some very imaginative entries into the competitions. The winners will be announced in assembly this afternoon. Prizes and certificates will be given out on Monday when everyone is back at school.
A book token for each child will be sent home next week once all the children are back at school.
Red Nose Day – Friday 19th March
This year we are suggesting that everybody donates £1 per child, £2 per family and dresses up to make people laugh. Please avoid clown costumes (to allow for those with coulrophobia), but other than that, let your imagination run wild. We will also be attempting to make a design in the playground using low value coinage, so start collecting your coppers now. There will also be the option of making a donation online through ParentPay https://app.parentpay.com/ParentPayShop/Foc/Default.aspx?shopid=2467
Parent Consultations
These will be held via Teams for Oak Class on Wednesday 24th March (10.00am to 5.00pm) and for all other classes during the week beginning 26th April. Sign-up details will be sent nearer the time.
Health and Safety
We recently had our annual Health and Safety inspection. I am very pleased to be able to tell you that the school is fully compliant and there were no identified areas for improvement. It is a real testament to all the staff that the school scores highly every year – many thanks to Mrs Beesley and Raffy, and at the moment particular thanks to our COVID cleaner Mrs Whiteley.
Easter Service
This will be prepared by the children in Oak Class. There will be a virtual assembly in school to say goodbye to Mrs Cornish and the children will then watch a video of the service. It will also be available on the school website (password protected).
Community Request
COVID Vaccination Clinics are currently being held at Islip Village Hall for four local medical practices. Each clinic day can see up to 500 appointments between 8am and 5pm which means they are asking that only those coming for vaccination use the parking adjacent to the Village Hall. Volunteers are helping in the car park but it does get completely full and they are asking people parking for other purposes to park elsewhere.
With school numbers increasing next week, I would like to communicate to all parents/carers the importance of not using the Village Hall for pick up and drop off when clinics are running. Please try to find somewhere else to park, either on the street or perhaps at the railway station.
We usually have approx. 7-10 days’ notice of clinic dates and they will typically run for 2 to 4 days. The school will send out e-mail notification of clinic days the night before so you can plan your journey accordingly. They are likely to run through until the summer.

Ash Class: Chloe, for using her fantastic imagination to write a brilliant story in Literacy this week; Zachary, for great use of adjectives and conjunctions in his story;
Oak Class: Grace T, for an amazing version of Jack’s story; Ahana, for enthusiastic participation in World Book Day activities;
Beech Class: Eleanor, for an excellent report on King Arthur; Louis, for fantastic problem solving in Maths.
