Voucher payments for clubs
If you pay for clubs using childcare vouchers particularly using Computershare, please could you put your name or your child’s name on as a reference so that we can match them up to outstanding balances on ParentPay. It is also really helpful if you can send in an email to say you have made a voucher payment as then we can clear your balances on ParentPay from the vouchers you have paid in.
Oak Class Cake Sale – Friday 24th January 2025
Next Friday, Oak Class will be holding a cake sale after school to raise money for a charity that they will select as a class. Please bring some pennies to support this event – cakes will be 50p each.
Sheldonian Trip – Friday 24th January
Oak Class will be attending a concert at the Sheldonian theatre on Friday. Please ensure that you have given your consent for the trip on ParentPay and remember to send your child with a packed lunch as they will return after school lunches have been served.
Youlbury Trip – Oak Class
Thank you to everyone who attended the meeting about the Youlbury trip on Tuesday. A letter will be sent out on Monday asking you to confirm that you would like your child to attend. We will ask for a £25 deposit which will secure the booking. If you missed the meeting and would like more information, please let me know.
Swimming – Friday 24th January
Please note there will be no swimming for Beech Class next week. Some children will be attending a Kidlington Partnership swimming gala and will receive a letter separately. Normal swimming lessons will resume on Friday 31st January
Soup Lunch and Talent Show – Friday 14th February
This popular event is fast approaching. On this date, the children will have the opportunity to have a soup lunch at the Village Hall, and they will then be able to demonstrate any particular talent they have. Mrs Halsey will be doing Quality Assurance in the coming weeks, and it always a brilliant event. If your child has a talent they wish to show, particularly something they learn out of school such as gymnastics, karate or something musical, they should prepare an item lasting about 90 seconds and talk with Mrs Halsey.
Separate information from the Friends of Dr South’s will be sent out to enable to you to book the lunch; we do hope that even if your child usually has lunch provided they will be able to take part in this fun fundraiser.
Official opening of the school library
As you may know, we have refurbished the school library with funds raised by the Friends of Dr South’s through the Big Bike Ride. We will be having an official opening of the library on Friday 31st January at 3.10pm and Dan Levy will be cutting the ribbon on behalf of the Big Bike Ride Committee. All parents are welcome to join us for this event and to have a look at our lovely new library.
This week we congratulated:
Willow Class: Tom, for listening and participating well in our carpet maths lessons; Eva, for beginning to write some independent sentences;
Ash Class: Thomas, for great knowledge of his number bonds to 10; Samuel, for a beautiful piece of art based on the Northern Lights;
Oak Class: Betsy, for working hard and getting more confident with her times tables; Edison, for focussing hard and always having a wonderful sentence to read out to the class;
Beech Class: Ben, for fantastic work in Literacy especially when peer marking; Emmy, for being a fantastic example to younger children through her role as a playleader.
Our Christian value for the term is creativity. Ask your children about the story of the wonderful Earth.
