Newsletter 12th July 2024

Dear parents and carers,

Ash and Willow Class Production

We do hope you enjoyed this – wasn’t it great to see the children enjoying themselves so much?  Many thanks to the staff for the hard work put into this; a lot of work goes on behind the scenes from many different people, so we won’t single out any one person, but thank you!

Oak and Beech Class Production – Wednesday 17th July, 1.30pm and 6.00pm

This event will be in the village hall and refreshments will be available before the afternoon performance. For the evening performance, your child needs to be brought to the Village Hall at 5.30pm.  If your child attends After School Club, we can look after them until the performance if we know in advance – just speak with Serinne to organise this.  Numbers are limited, so if you require more than three seats for the evening performance, please let the office know so we can keep track of numbers.  Please bring pre-school siblings to the afternoon performance if possible.

Transition Morning – Thursday 18th July

Children will have the opportunity to experience the class arrangements for next year on the morning of 18th July.  Existing nursery children who are transferring to Reception who are not normally in on that day are welcome to join us, but it is not essential.  A letter with full details about staffing arrangements will go out that day, along with annual reports.

Leavers’ Service – Tuesday 23rd July, 2.00pm in the church

All are welcome to this event where we will say goodbye to children leaving us.  It is a lovely way to finish the year, so do come if you can.

End of year disco -Tuesday 23 July

FODS will be organising an end-of-year disco at the Village Hall after school on the last day of term (Tuesday 23 July), from 3.30-5.00pm. Tickets – costing £3.50 per child – can be bought in advance on ParentPay. Tickets include a hot dog, crisps and a drink. There will also be a cash bar for adults. Please note that all children must be supervised by an adult, and remain their responsibility throughout the event. We hope to see lots of you there!

Class Photographs – order by 13th July for delivery to school

Don’t forget to order your photograph by 13th July to have it sent to school for collection.

Staff News

We are sure you will wish to join us in sending congratulations and best wishes to Mr and Mrs Cornish on the birth of Dexter James. 10lb 2oz! Mother and baby doing well. Mrs Cornish would also like to pass on her thanks for the generous gifts she received from the parents of Oak Class.

ParentPay

As we approach the end of the year, please make sure you have cleared any outstanding amounts on ParentPay.  It is sometimes difficult to track down where you might owe money because of all the different places the debts may be, but the common ones are Meals, Late Care and 8.30 Breakfast Club.  Do please check those to make sure they are in credit.

Volunteers

We have many kind and generous people who support the school by giving their time freely, but we wanted to mark one in particular this week.  Janet Turner has been a Reading Volunteer with ARCh (Assisted Reading for Children) for twenty years and has been coming to the school for all that time, seeing off over five headteachers! Over the years we estimate she has supported over a hundred children.  This is an amazing achievement – Janet, we salute you and would like to say a huge thank you for the work you do!

Welcome back BBQ: save the date -Saturday 14 September

FODS are planning a ‘welcome back BBQ’ on Saturday 14 September from 3.30-5.30pm at the Village Hall. We will provide more information about how to pre-order food for this next term, but hope that you will save the date for this new family event.

This week we congratulated:

Willow Class: Isla, for enthusiastic dancing in the production; Emily, for superb singing in the performances this week;

Ash Class: All of Ash Class for their wonderful performances in “Jonah and the Splendiferous Whale.”

Oak Class: Henry, for excellent work using Word to create an information poster; Sammy, for super ideas when writing poetry this week;

Beech: Darcey, for always trying her best in every lesson and for being a kind friend; Sarah, for knowing all her lines and for being ready for every cue in rehearsals;

Cookery: Elizabeth, for great independence in the kitchen and for great knowledge of food groups.

Our Christian value this term is Perseverance.  Ask your child about Rama and Sita.
