Dear parents and carers,
We are looking forward to welcoming all children back to school on Monday 8th March. A separate letter has been sent with all the details, but if you did not receive this, please contact the office.
World Book Day – Thursday 4th March
We will be marking this with various class-based events, and these will be communicated through the class assignments. Mrs Watson will also be sending out details of some whole school events. We will not be doing whole-school dress up (as we do this every other year), but if your child wishes to wear a costume in the class meetings, they are very welcome to do this.
Red Nose Day – Friday 19th March
This year we are suggesting that everybody donates £1 per child, £2 per family and dresses up to make people laugh. Please avoid clown costumes (to allow for those with coulrophobia), but other than that, let your imagination run wild. We will also be attempting to make a design in the playground using low value coinage, so start collecting your coppers now.
Parent Consultations
These will be held via Teams for Oak Class on Wednesday 24th March (10.00am to 5.00pm) and for all other classes during the week beginning 26th April. Sign-up details will be sent nearer the time.
Staffing
As you know, Mrs Cornish is due to go on maternity leave at the end of term. We wish her well with the new addition to her family. I am pleased to let you know that we have appointed Mrs Rachel Sellars as her replacement; she and Miss Goater will share the teaching of the class in the summer term and they will both join Mrs Cornish for the virtual parent consultations.
Easter Service
This will be prepared by the children in Oak Class. A video of the event will be released on the last day of term.
Beech Class Residential – 7th June
We have no special knowledge about how likely it is that this will take place, but if the easing of restrictions goes to plan, all limits on contact for the whole of England will be lifted on 21st June. Bearing that in mind, I would think it likely that closed school groups will be allowed to stay away, so we are currently expecting it to take place. I am in the process of finding out more from the centre managers and will let you know when I have any details.
This week we congratulated:
Willow Class: Billy, for great work in phonics;
Ash Class: Ellie, for working really hard in maths this week; Molly, for great contributions in our calls and for working hard in phonics at home;
Oak Class: Audrey, for excellent work in maths; Asher, for a fantastic effort in all subjects;
Beech Class: Ehsan, for good work on short multiplication; Helena, for fantastic work on the Mayans.
Our Christian value for the term is Compassion. Ask your child about the footprints in the sand.
