Parent Consultations
Thank you for booking slots for this. It went well from a teacher perspective, and it would be really helpful to hear how it went from the parent end. It is quite possible that we will continue to use technology for these meetings for any who wish after the pandemic is over, perhaps having one session with Zoom and another face to face. If you have time, please drop an e-mail to the office with any thoughts.
Remembrance Day – Wednesday 11th November
We observed this in school. All classes visited the War Memorial to lay a wreath, and then we held the Act of Remembrance in the playground. The children were a credit to you all.
Children in Need – Friday 13th November
Thank you for your support of this. It was interesting thinking about aspects of mental well-being during the week, and we had a great time today with Feelgood Friday. We raised £140.
Christmas Trees – order by Friday 27th November
Following fantastic feedback in previous years, the Friends of Dr South’s are selling Christmas trees once again to raise money for the Sparkle Fund. The premium Nordmann Fir (non-drop) trees are delivered directly from a Scottish plantation to Mill Street in Islip for Covid-safe collection the 5th/6th December (local delivery is also available). They will stay beautifully fresh if left outside in a bucket of water until you are ready to put them up, so don’t worry if you don’t want to start putting up Christmas decorations that early! The trees are available from 4ft to 7ft (or taller on request). Prices: 4ft+: £25, £5ft+: £35, £6ft+: £40, 7ft+: £50, 8ft+: £60 Do tell family and friends too – we are happy to sell to anyone!

Medical Notes
Thank you for your flexibility and support during the current difficulties. I am very impressed with the way the children have coped with the changes and very grateful to the staff for rising to the different challenges. We have recently revised our risk assessment and one area where we could improve is to ensure that parents maintain effective social distancing during drop off and collection. PLEASE make sure you do not congregate at the gates, and that you keep your distance when having conversations. Please also try to limit visits to the office as much as possible.
Our Christian Value this term is Thankfulness. Ask your child about being thankful for food.

Ash Class: Chloe, for being very engaged in RE and for producing a very neat and colourful lantern; Jonah, for enthusiasm to learn about Remembrance Day and for being incredibly respectful and polite to the soldiers who joined us;
Oak Class: Sarah, for beautiful descriptive writing; Grace W, for great skills in gymnastics;
Beech Class: Lilly S, for great perseverance to complete Bikability ; Lily T, for wonderful work on multiplication;
Cookery: Emmy, for being an excellent role model for the other children on how to keep your work area clean and for great knife skills.
