Medical Notes
On Thursday 10th December all children from Reception upwards will be eligible to receive their flu nasal sprays at school. In order for your child to take part, you need to register online and grant permission. So far, we have about 54% of children enrolled. Please make sure you have registered, even if you do not want your child to have the spray at school. The unique code is OX143888 and the enrolment site will close for new children on Tuesday 8th December.

Volunteer Readers
I am delighted to let you know that one of our reading volunteers, Miss Janet Turner, has been awarded the Christopher Quinton award for outstanding service. Janet has been helping at Dr South’s with ARCh (Assisted Reading for Children) for 16 years, and during that time has instilled a very real love of reading in many children. Christingle
This will be part of our St Nicholas service on Friday 4th December. As part of this, the children are being invited to collect loose change in the collection box candle being sent home today and bring it back to school for the service. We do not yet know full details for the service, but will let you know nearer the time; parents will not be able to attend in person. We are not doing the toy collection this year, but the money will be passed to the Children’s Society.
Willow Class Nativity
Willow class will be having their virtual nativity recorded on Wednesday 9th December. In keeping with tradition, we are going to hold a Christmas raffle open to the whole school. To enable us to do this, we need your support. If you would like to donate a prize, please could you leave it with the office or with one of the Willow staff members before Wednesday 2nd December. Tickets will be on sale in the playground on Monday 7th in the morning and afternoon during drop off and pick up. Tickets will be £1 a strip, and there will be multiple prizes on offer, so please make sure you bring your spare change that day. We will do the draw on Wednesday 9th December. The winning tickets will be announced in the newsletter on Friday 11th December, so please keep your tickets safe. Winners can claim their prizes from the Willow classroom anytime from Monday 14th December. Thank you in advance for all your support, and Good Luck!
Christmas Trees – order by next Friday 27th November
Following fantastic feedback in previous years, the Friends of Dr South’s are selling Christmas trees once again to raise money for the Sparkle Fund. The premium Nordmann Fir (non-drop) trees are delivered directly from a Scottish plantation to Mill Street in Islip for Covid-safe collection the 5th/6th December (local delivery is also available). They will stay beautifully fresh if left outside in a bucket of water until you are ready to put them up, so don’t worry if you don’t want to start putting up Christmas decorations that early! The trees are available from 4ft to 7ft (or taller on request). Prices: 4ft+: £25, £5ft+: £35, £6ft+: £40, 7ft+: £50, 8ft+: £60 Do tell family and friends too – we are happy to sell to anyone!
