We have reached the end of the Autumn term which has been incredibly long and busy. Thank you for all your support with the many events that have taken place throughout the term. On behalf of all the staff, we would like to say thank you for your generosity and kindness shown to staff at Christmas which is much appreciated by us all. We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and best wishes for the New Year.
New Term
School will re-open on Monday 6th January 2025 for Term 3.
After School Club
The booking form for this is on the school website. If you wish to book a club, please complete the form and return to the office via email. Clubs with limited spaces will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis.

Staffing
There will be no afternoon cookery sessions for several weeks after Christmas due to a planned staff absence. The cookery after school club will still be running on a Monday. We will begin the normal curriculum cookery sessions again as soon as we can. Breakfast club and after school care will be provided as normal.
FODS 100 Club
Thank you very much for supporting the Sparkle Fund by buying numbers for the Friends of Dr South’s 100 Club. The December draw took place on Friday, and the winners are as follows:
1st prize: £29.63 – Sue Welsford (No 13)
2nd prize: £17.77 – Kathryn Rogers (No 19)
3rd prize: £11.85 – Lucy Arad (No 37)
£59.25 will go to the Sparkle Fund. You will see that the winning amounts are slightly strange; this is because we still have 21 numbers to sell. If you would like to buy more – or know someone else who would – please let us know. We will pass on the winnings at school this week. The next draw will take place on Thursday 30 January 2025.
Reception Admission September 2024
Don’t forget that if you wish your child to come here for Reception next September, you need to apply online by Monday January 15th. Even if you have a child already at the school, this also applies for younger siblings. Speak to the office staff if you need help with this.
T1 Rugby
Well done to the Year 5/6 children who competed at Gosford Hill School last week. We entered three teams: Dr South’s Australia, Dr South’s Italy and Dr South’s Wales! I am delighted to announce that Dr South’s Australia were announced as the overall winners of this festival. Congratulations to them and to Dr South’s Italy team who came 7th and Dr South’s Wales team who came 8th.
Christmas Bazaar
The children had a wonderful time choosing their Christmas gifts. Huge thanks go to Mrs Halsey and her elves (Mrs Jaggard, Miss Turner, Miss Halsey -Jones and Nico) who work so hard to provide this magical opportunity for the children. Thank you to everyone who kindly donated the lovely range of gifts that make this experience possible.
Gosford Hill School Soul Band
We enjoyed a performance from Gosford Hill School Soul Band this week. The children sang along beautifully and it was very inspiring to see many former Dr South’s pupils performing in the band. Thank you to Mr. Sellars for bringing the children along for this lovely event.
