Dear parents and carers,
Welcome back for the final term of the year – I do hope you all enjoyed a restful break and the sunshine.
Class Photos
We have booked a school photography company to take our whole school and class photos on the 22nd June. Please email the office before this date to give permission for your child to be included in these photos or to let us know if you do not wish your child to be included in the photos.
Oxford Science Museum Trip – Wednesday 10th June
On Wednesday, all children from Reception to Year 6 will be visiting the Oxford Science Museum. Please ensure that you have given consent for this trip by logging onto ParentPay. This needs to be completed before Monday 8th June. All children in Key Stage 2 will need to bring a packed lunch.
Celebration Assembly
Today we congratulated Tom and William for completing the Blenheim Fun Run, Eva, for successfully swimming 200m, Benji for achieving his Stage 6 swimming award, Alice for winning three gold awards and a silver award at a gymnastics competition and Amelie for completing the Tykes and Trikes race. Thank you for sharing your achievements with us.
Well done to all the children who had achieved their reading rewards and the winner of the May Book Draw was Ellie.
May Day 2026
Huge thanks to everyone who supported the Friends of Dr South’s fundraising at May Day — by providing food, donating toys, books and tombola prizes, and helping on the day. It was a lovely occasion for children, staff and parents, as well as a great fundraiser for the school. We raised just over £1,460 on the day, bringing us very close to achieving our £10,000 fundraising target for the year. Thank you for your support.
FODS Meeting – Wednesday 10th June at 8pm
Our next Friends of Dr South’s (FODS meeting) will be held next Wednesday 10th June at 8pm in the Lin Cooper building. (If you are unable to attend in person but would like to join virtually, we will send a Teams link out next week).
The June meeting is usually our AGM, but this will now be held at the beginning of the Autumn term instead.
It would be wonderful if you are able to join us next week to give your views and help shape the upcoming fundraising events! As always, there will be refreshments to keep us going!
Beech Cake Sale
Well done to all the children in Beech Class who raised £100 from their cake sale today. They have decided to donate the money to Cancer Research. Thank you to everyone who supported this event by supplying and purchasing cakes.
ParentPay
A gentle reminder to check your ParentPay accounts to ensure that any outstanding balances for meals and/or clubs have all been paid.
End of Year Productions
We are getting ready for our summer productions and we are all very excited! Over the next few weeks, letters will be coming home with more details, including costume information. Do talk with your child’s teacher if you have any questions about this. For children in Oak and Beech classes, please also check that they will be able to attend on the evening of Thursday 9th July. All the children in those classes are expected to be there, but if they cannot come for any reason, please let us know NOW, as it will affect how we organise the show.
This week we congratulated:
Willow Class : Iru, for playing really well with others this week; Lucy, for making a beautiful poster about cleaning up our beaches;
Ash Class: Antonina, for excellent curiosity and thoughtful questions when on our trip to the Bus Museum; Thea, for always being thoughtful and caring to everyone in her class;
Oak Class: Tazwar, for inspiring other with his courage and perseverance by swimming better each week and always trying his hardest; Rosie-May, for always showing readiness and kindness by wanting to help others in whatever way she can;
Beech Class: George, for superb enthusiasm and effort in French this week; Chloe, for perfect punctuation of direct speech in her robot story
Our Christian value for the term is perseverance. In our celebration assembly today, the children identified perseverance in the story of the Enormous Turnip and we celebrated individual perseverance shown by those children achieving reading rewards, gymnastic awards, swimming awards, running and cycling awards.
Dates for the year
We have a church service most terms which all families are welcome to attend.
Our May Day celebrations are at the end of May and this is a whole day event for families to attend if they wish.
Sports Day is for the whole school and begins at 9am and last until approximately 1pm. Parents are welcome to watch and enjoy a picnic lunch with their child after the races if they are able to.
