Soup Lunch and Talent Show – Friday 12th February
Of course this will go ahead! Although we will be unable to meet in person, we are keen that we join together remotely to celebrate this event, and also hopefully raise money for the Friends of Dr South’s, who have been prevented from doing so many of their usual fundraising events. Full details of practicalities will follow next week, but this week we need to start collecting items from the children. If your child wishes to submit an item for the Talent Show, you need to record it, preferably on a smartphone, and send it to the school office by next Thursday 4th February. The clips will be spliced together (we will use as many as we can) and will be made available password protected on the school website. Please note that the show will also be available to members of the wider Islip community who would normally attend the Soup Lunch; they will be able to purchase a ticket giving the password. By submitting a clip, you are giving permission for this to happen.
We are happy to receive short clips of eg a child telling a joke/showing a model they have made, and also longer clips of eg a child performing some gymnastics/doing a conjuring trick/playing a musical instrument. These can be up to 90 seconds long, although if you have a specific request for longer (eg a particular piano piece) do let us know. If possible, your child should introduce longer clips by saying “My name is (first name only) and I am going to (play Minuet by Bach/do a headstand).”
Remote Learning
First of all, well done for the amazing effort being made – it is great to see the children at the class meetings. We are also pleased to see that so many of the children are now able to access and complete the work. As always, if you have any questions about the class work, do e-mail the class teachers as they have allocated time to respond during the school day. I am aware that some of you are starting to find home schooling a struggle. As in the first lockdown, the important thing is that the children come out at the other end in a mentally and physically robust state, so if you are finding it hard to motivate your child, or simply need some time off, just let the class teacher know. We would rather your children came back with a spring in their step than that they were switched off from learning.

Beech Class: Jak, for fabulous work all week; Lily T, for a super newspaper report on Mo Farah.
Our Christian value for the term is Wisdom. Ask your child about Moses in the bulrushes.
