Year 3 and 4 Girl’s Football Tournament
We were incredibly proud of all the Oak Class girls who participated in a football tournament on Thursday at West Kidlington School. We entered two teams and both teams reached the final in their groups. One team were narrowly defeated by Edward Feild school and the other team beat West Kidlington and will progress to the next round. Hannah and Jovie were awarded star of the tournament for their super sportsmanship. Well done to you all!
Celebration Assembly
Today we congratulated Leo who has been awarded a certificate for showing grit and sportsmanship at his swimming club. He also shared the two medals he had won for individual medley and front crawl.
We also congratulated Edison for achieving a merit in his Grade 1 guitar exam.
Fifty-three children also achieved their 25-night reading award and many of the children are working hard to achieve this first landmark.
Thank you for sharing your achievements with us.
School Council News
The school councillors were discussing playtimes and suggested some ideas for playground equipment and wet play games which they hoped would make playtimes more fun for all. Two of the councillors have also booked an appointment with Mrs Watson to share their views on how lunchtimes are organised. All of the council would like to encourage their classmates to share ideas and ask questions about how we can make school life even better by using the suggestion box in the hall.
This week we congratulated:
Willow Class: Elijah, for settling so well into Willow Class; Ivie, for having a wonderful week;
Ash Class: Olympia for her use of mathematical language when reasoning in Mastery in Number lessons; River for improved confidence when writing a story independently.
Oak Class: Hannah, for surprising herself and others with her excitement and dedication during the football tournament; Jovie, for being a big inspiration to the other Oak class girls, doing her absolute best in the football tournament.
Beech Class: Rosie-May, for a positive approach to her learning and for always being willing to have a go; Edison, for fantastic engagement and effort in Literacy.
Our Christian value for the term is courage. Ask your child about the selfish crocodile.
