Newsletter 4th September 2020

Dear parents and carers,

Welcome back, after an extraordinary year.  It has been wonderful to see all the children again and to hear what they have been up to.  Thank you for your support over the last few months; we are coming through this difficult time together and it has been very reassuring to be able to rely upon your support.  The overall plans for the new normal have been communicated, but, as always, if you have any questions or comments, do get in touch.  As part of the precautions we are taking, we have employed Mrs Lynn Whiteley who is doing touch point cleaning throughout the day across the school.  We also welcome Mrs Fiona Mason at lunchtimes serving meals – she will swing into full action on Monday 14th September, but is busy providing packed lunches at the moment.

Communication is vitally important at this time.  Next week, we will be sending out data checking sheets to ensure all the contact information we have is accurate.  Please check this carefully, particularly the e-mail addresses.  We will also be doing a survey of what technology the children have available for home learning to ensure that if there is another lockdown, we will be able to swing into action with no delay.

Clubs

These begin next week.  We have been able to accommodate everybody so far, but if you have not yet booked a place and wish to do so, please send the form as soon as possible. The amounts to pay will be loaded on ParentPay next week.

Cookery

We are expecting to continue with cookery, using groups from within the class bubbles.  The children will work on their own individual food, and will not be sharing utensils.  A group from Beech Class will start next week and a separate letter will be sent regarding this. If you have any cooking apples, Serinne would appreciate any donations.

Meet the Teachers

Instead of the usual meetings in classrooms, we will send out a letter from each class teacher on Monday.  This will detail things like class expectations, PE days, homework and topics to be covered this term.  Once you have received this, you are very welcome to arrange a time to meet the teacher individually if you wish.

Our Christian Value this term is Responsibility.  We will be launching this on Monday when Mr Morgan will Zoom into the classrooms!
