Newsletter 4th November 2016

Dear Parents,

Cross Country

Congratulations to Harry, George R, Archie and James C who represented the school at the Kidlington area heats. They came second as a team, with Harry coming first overall.  Many congratulations to them!

Parent Consultations

These will take place next Wednesday 9th and Thursday 10th November.  Please sign up on the sheets by the classroom at the start and end of each day or telephone the office to make an appointment.

Poppy Appeal and Remembrance

All are warmly invited to join us for the Act of Remembrance next Friday 11th November.  Weather permitting we shall be meeting at the War Memorial at 10.45am (in the school hall if wet).  I am pleased to say that last year we raised £112.98 for the Poppy appeal.  Poppies are now available in the office.  Paper poppies are available for any donation, but we suggest a minimum donation of £1 for the larger items (eg wristbands, reflector poppies).

Children in Need

This will take place on Friday 18th November.  It will be a non-uniform day with the theme of spots (suggested donation £1), with a cake sale at the end of the day.  Offers of help to staff the stalls gratefully received.  Start baking now!

This week we have welcomed Mrs Laura Barnett to work as a teaching assistant in Willow Class; we are delighted that she has joined the team. We have also welcomed Miss Karie Ledster who is a student teacher on placement for five weeks.

Thank you to all those who manage to get their children here on time every day. I know it can be a struggle sometimes, for a wide variety of reasons, so your support with this is much appreciated.  In the first half of the autumn term 54 children managed to attend every single day.  Many congratulations to: Zoe, Millie B, Piers, Tom C, Ahana, Isabella J, Felix, Millie N, Alexa, Ethan, Jack, Lucas, Helena, Noah H, Louis, Bella L, Tia, Logan, Joe M, Noah M, Charlie N, Jak, Phoebe, Nishan, William W, Harry, Leandro, Emily, Porsha, Orla, Imogen, Archie, Flora, Amie, Franck, Davina, Jamie O, Mia, Ruby, Marcus, Flyn, Frankie, Joseph B, Giorgio, Charlie C, Matti, Gloria, Charlotte Gr, Justin, Islay, Evie, Noah P, Amelia, Gabriel and Faith – a very impressive line-up!

This week we congratulated:

  • Willow Class: Grace, for being thoughtful towards others;
  • Ash Class: Jack F, for being a great classroom citizen; Clara, for good opening sentences for fairy tales;
  • Oak Class: William G, for applying himself well in English and maths; Archie, for a brilliant recount;
