Newsletter 26th January 2018

Dear Parents,

Curriculum evening

It was good to see people at the curriculum events yesterday.  We will be adding information from this to the website over the next week or so.  Do refer there for more details if you are interested.

Health and Safety Inspection

Yesterday we had our annual H&S inspection.  As always, the inspector was very impressed with our compliance in this area, and we had a clean sweep with no areas of improvement for the school.  Many, many thanks to Ms Rayner for leading in this area.  Special thanks also to those staff members who keep our site clean and sparkling and sort our administrative paperwork: Mrs Beesley, Mrs Robertson, Miss Prud’homme, Serinne and Raffy.  Their work is often unnoticed and unacknowledged, but vitally important to the children’s wellbeing.

Oak Class Charity Event

Thank you for supporting this last week.  The children raised £108.40 for Cancer Research.

Oxford Mail

We had a short visit from the Oxford Mail yesterday as they wanted to do an article on the school.  The feature will be in Monday’s paper and should be worth a read.

Soup lunch and talent show – Friday February 2nd

A quick reminder that NEXT FRIDAY, 2nd February, is the annual soup and jacket potato lunch followed by the loved talent show.
All are warmly invited to the village hall for delicious homemade soups, filled jacket potatoes and cakes to raise money for the Sparkle fund. Children will be served from 12 and parents/grandparents/friends will be served from 12.45, with the talent show starting at 1.15pm.
Thank you to everyone who has returned their forms – please return the form for your child by Monday if you haven’t done so already. All forms must be returned, even if your child is having a packed lunch or school dinner on the day so that we can ensure every child is accounted for.
Thank you too to everyone who has offered to cook for or serve at the lunch. We would be very grateful for a few more offers of help to make soups, chilli con carne and cakes and to set up and serve on the day. If you are able to help in any way, please email drsouthsfriends@gmail.com or speak to Niki Richardson or Sophie Miller.

Quiz Night – save the date – Saturday 10th March

Dr South’s ever popular quiz night returns on Saturday 10th March. Put the date in your diary now for another evening of delicious food and drink, brain twisters and teasers and much laughter. All are welcome, so do invite friends and family.
