Dear parents and carers,
Parent Consultations
Thank you for support with these and many apologies for needing to rearrange some of the times. I am busy analysing the questionnaire results so far, so please make sure you complete one if you haven’t already done so. Additional copies are available from the office if you didn’t get one during parent consultations.
Netball Competition
Children from Beech Class took part in the Kidlington Partnership netball tournament yesterday. They competed very well and came a creditable fourth out of eight. Well done to them, and many thanks to Mrs Brees for taking them.
World Book Day
Next week is World Book Week, and we are having a visit from an author on Monday, and World Book Day celebrations next Thursday 1st March. You should have received an e-mail with details, but if not, do ask at the office. As mentioned in the letter, there is optional dressing up on World Book Day with a prize for the most imaginative book related costume.
- Photo Competition: In addition, we will be holding a photo competition to find the most unusual place where you can read a book. Please bring your entry into school by Wednesday or e-mail it to the office.
- Book Swap: We would like the children to look through books they have read and are happy to exchange and bring one or two books into school by Thursday. During the day we will give the children an opportunity to peruse the books and choose a new one.
Ash Class Assembly
Family and friends are warmly invited to hear what Ash Class have been learning this term. They will be presenting in the school hall at 2.30pm on Friday 9th March. Do come and support them.
Quiz Night – Saturday 10th March
It’s only two weeks until Quiz Night on the 10th March. There are limited places available and tickets have already started selling, so don’t miss out! This is a great evening, with enjoyable brain teasers, delicious food and drink and much laughter. Invite family and friends to form a team (4-8 people) or ask to be placed in one. To book tickets contact drsouthsfriends@gmail.com. The cost is £14.00, which includes a delicious meal. The more tickets we sell the more money we raise for the school so do come along if you are able. We would also be grateful of any offers of food for this event. Please let us know if you are able to help with providing a lasagne, sausage casserole or a pudding or can help with setting up, serving or clearing up on the night. Thank you!
Nut Free School
As you may be aware, we have some children in school who are highly anaphylactic and respond to contact with nuts with life-threatening responses. We obviously have management plans in place to cope with such emergencies, but please make sure you do not send your child to school with nuts or nut products of any description. This includes Nutella, which is a particular trigger. Many thanks.
- This week we congratulated:
- Willow Class: Bear, for excellent effort and enthusiasm with his reading;
- Ash Class: Felix, for perceptive comments about friendship; Freya, for great spelling work;
- Oak Class: Lily, for column addition; Marcus, for work on decimals;
- Beech Class: Amelie J, for addition and subtraction of decimals; Melina, for great flair in short story writing.
- Art Award: Freya, for excellent work on Monet;

Our Christian Value for the term is Compassion. What can your child tell you about footsteps in the sand?
