Newsletter 1st July 2016

Dear Parents

Oak and Beech Class Performances

We have two performances of The Pirates of The Curry Bean next Wednesday 6th July in the Village Hall.  One performance is at 1.30pm when the rest of the school will watch, so it would be a good one for younger siblings to watch, and the evening performance is at 6.00pm, at which I anticipate standing room only.  Doors open at 5.30pm.

Clarinet Lessons

This year, children in Beech Class have been learning the clarinet.  There will be a short play through of the pieces they have been learning at 11.30am on Friday 8th July.  All are welcome to attend to see what they have achieved.

Class Photo Orders

The deadline for orders is 4.30pm next Tuesday 5th July 2016.  This will ensure delivery before the school holidays.  If you miss the deadline you can still order photos but will have to pay a delivery charge.

Supper Concert

It was lovely to see a real mix of village and school people at this event last Friday.  Many thanks to all those who took part or helped with food.

Strike Action

You may have seen that there is strike action from one teaching union on 5th July.  I can confirm that Dr South’s will be open as usual on that day.

Ash and Willow Class Performance

You are cordially invited to a performance of Tattybogle at 2.00pm in the Village Hall on Tuesday 12th July.

Dance Club Show

Parents of children who come to dance club are invited to come and watch their show on Tuesday 19th July at the revised time of 2.45pm.

Forest School

There will be no Forest School for the next two weeks due to performances and the residential.

Young Art Oxford

I was pleased that so many children took part in this competition earlier in the year.  Overall it raised £15,582.77, which is a fabulous total.

This week we congratulated:

  • Oak Class: Jayden, for enthusiasm in the play; Evie, for clear speaking;
  • Beech Class: Charlotte Gi, for superb concentration and neat, accurate sewing.
