Dear Parents,
Weather
Thank you for your support and understanding during the recent uncertainties. All appeared to work smoothly in terms of communication, but if you did not receive timely information, please contact the office to see if we can work out a way to improve it. We are investigating using text message as well as e-mail, but the more databases we need to maintain, the more chance there is of error. We will let you know if things change.
Carol Service and Nativity – Tuesday 19th December
Everybody is warmly invited to join us at the church at 2.00pm for this traditional event. Children in Ash Class will present the Christmas story, and we will all join in carols. It is a lovely way to finish term, so do join us if you can.
Clubs
A separate letter is being emailed out today; please return this as soon as you can so we can sort staffing.
Pantomime trip – Friday 5th January
We will be leaving school straight after the register, so don’t be late. On that day there will be NO school dinners available – please arrange to bring packed lunch that day as we arrive back at school too late for hot food.
Money letter
A letter is attached to the newsletter email today listing expected events needing money next term. It is purely for information, but I hope you find it useful.
Reception Applications
Applications are now open for places in Reception (F1) for next September. These can be done online at www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/primaryadmissions although paper applications can also be made. Please note that even if you have a place in our nursery, you still need to apply specifically for Reception. Applications close 15th January 2018.
Vacancies
We currently have a vacancy for a Clerk to the Governors. This is a paid post; you may know of somebody who might be interested. Full details are to be found at the vacancies page on the ODST website. We are, however, prepared to amend the job to be that of a minute taker, with specialist tasks undertaken by a different person. There are six evening meetings per year, with occasional daytime meetings. If you are interested, please contact the school office in the first instance.
Our Christian Value for the term is Thankfulness. We thought this week about being thankful at Christmas.
This week we congratulated:
- Willow Class: the whole class, for trying so hard during the Nativity;
- Ash Class: Rihanna for working really hard at everything; Isabella for being an amazing Mary;
- Oak Class: Daisy, for positive behaviour; Amie, for thoughtful reasons why Christmas should be celebrated;
- Beech Class: Harry, for a fantastic result in his Maths assessment; Matti, for excellent effort in everything this week;
- Sport award: everybody, for their achievements this term!
- Cooking Award : Ella, for trying really hard in the kitchen.
