Newsletter 13th October 2017

Dear Parents,

Playground

I am sure you have noticed the new activities being installed under the trees.  This is a project partly funded by the Big Lottery Fund with top-up funding from the school.  I look forward to the children enjoying the new facilities.

Staffing

I am sure you will join with me in congratulating Mr and Mrs Talbot on the birth of Holly Talbot yesterday at 2.43pm, weighing 6lb 11oz.  All are well.

MP visit

Next Friday 20th we shall be joined in the afternoon by our MP, John Howell.  He will meet some of the children and answer their questions, join us in assembly, and then be available to meet parents in the playground after school.  If you have any issues you wish to raise with him (school funding, anyone?), do make a point of speaking with him.

Parent Consultations

These will take place the week after half term, mostly on Wednesday and Thursday.  There are some other chances to meet the teacher, though – please check available timings on the lists in classrooms and sign up for something convenient.  If you would like a longer appointment, please see the teacher to arrange this at a different time.

Science Week

We have a whole school science week planned for the week beginning 6th November.  If you use science in your job and are happy to come and talk to the older children about it, please contact the office

This week we congratulated:

  • Willow Class: Bella, for great acting during helicopter stories;
  • Ash Class: Phoebe for working really hard in guided reading; Solomon for settling in well and working hard;
  • Oak Class: Noah, for excellent work with number lines; Flyn for superb writing when describing a character;
  • Beech Class: Jayden for an imaginative short story; Millie for being an excellent role model for others;
  • Sport Award: Ruby, for not giving up and for determination to improve her game;
  • Art Award: Matti, for excellent work all week;
  • Cooking Award: Franck for superb effort even when unsure and for keeping the kitchen clean and tidy; Ruby for trying hard with everything, especially tidying; Imogen, for being excellent at keeping the kitchen clean and tidy;

Our Christian Value for the term is Responsibility.  We thought about how we take responsibility for managing our anger.  What things should we get angry about, and how can we work to improve things?
