Newsletter 10th March 2017

Dear Parents,

Charity Fundraising

Thank you for supporting the YouGrowTheyGrow plant purchase.  We raised £213.80 which will go towards building allotments in townships in South Africa.

Don’t forget the Purple for Polio crocus badges are available at reception if you would like to buy one.

Parent Consultations – Ash Class

These will take place next week.  Please sign up on the list in the classroom if you have not already done so.  We ask all parents to complete a questionnaire around this time of year, and copies are handed out at parent consultations.  A copy is attached and hard copies can be obtained from the school office.  These are very useful to help determine future priorities for the school, so please take the time to fill one out.

Quiz Night Saturday 18th March

It is our very popular annual quiz night on Saturday 18th March at 7.30 at Islip Village Hall. This is an event not to be missed! Please join us for a brilliant evening of brain teasers, delicious food and much merriment!  Tickets are £14 each and include a delicious meal. All proceeds go to the Friends of Dr South’s – we are currently fundraising for playground markings which will benefit all the children.  It would be great to see lots of people there – you can either form your own team (4-8 people) or ask to be placed in a team.   Tickets are available now from [email protected] or speak to Sophie (Islay, Flora and Noah’s mum) or Niki (Aoife and Joe’s mum). Places are limited so book as soon as possible!

Red Nose Day – Friday 24th March

We are keeping this low key this year.  The children are invited to wear their own clothes for the day, and donate £1 for the opportunity.

Big Bike Ride

This will take place on Sunday 7th May.  Many riders and helpers will be needed, so save the date now.  If you are interested in riding, go to for more information.  This is a massive fundraiser for the school and the church, so do try to support it in some way.

This week we congratulated:

  • Art:     Nishan P, for showing great effort and for producing some brilliant art work.
  • Sport:  Joe M, for enthusiasm and maturity during PE.
  • Willow: Milly N, for perseverance when writing her song lyrics;
  • Ash: Agnes R, for carefully considered comments in RE and assembly; Lily T, for consistent care of others;
