Newsletter 8th July 2016

Dear Parents,

Please read this newsletter carefully, paying particular attention to the dates at the end.  There is a lot going on, so make sure you don’t miss anything.

Pirates of the Curry Bean

I hope those of you who saw this enjoyed it as much as I did.  I was immensely proud of the children for the polished performance they gave.  At last night’s Governing Body meeting we thought about the value of activities such as this and concluded that over the last few weeks the children had been learning about speaking clearly, projecting themselves, developing confidence, singing, dancing, co-operating, developing self-control, strengthening memory skills, learning patience, teamwork, trust (and perhaps forgiveness of Mr Morgan when he got cross in rehearsals!).

Ash and Willow Class Performance

You are cordially invited to a performance of Tattybogle at 2.00pm in the Village Hall on Tuesday 12th July.

Swimming

Please note that Oak Class will be swimming next Friday 15th as the children in Beech Class are away.  You do not need to send any additional money or permission slips; if your child turns up with their swimming kit, they will be able to go.

Dance Club Show

Parents of children who come to dance club are invited to come and watch their show in the school hall on Tuesday 19th July at the revised time of 2.45pm.

Leavers’ Service

This will take place at 2.00pm in the church on the last day of term, Wednesday 20th July.  All are welcome to bid farewell to children, staff and parents who are leaving.

Forest School

There will be no Forest School next week due to performances and the residential.

Beech Class Residential

All the children of Beech Class will be away in Devon next week with Mrs Watson and various other staff members.  Mr Morgan will be away until Wednesday.  If there is anything urgent which needs dealing with in his absence, please see Mrs Halsey who will be in charge.

Our Christian value for the term has been Forgiveness.  Can your child remember about the Jews in World War Two, the Battle of the Somme, the story of Joseph and his brothers, the work of Gordon Wilson, the story of Zaccheus, Guru Nanak and the robber and Edmund and Eustace in the Narnia stories? They were also challenged to think about how forgiveness can impact on their lives and how they can demonstrate forgiveness at school.
